Product Description

This plane has some minor pitting to the sole and sides. We can’t ''feel'' any depressions so these are minor pits and they are not widespread.

We have taken several photographs to show where these pits and other discolouration/staining are present. Please feel free to enquire further sales@classichandtools.com

This plane has a tilting rear tote so you can have knuckle clearance when planing.

Also known as a Carriage Maker’s or Jack Rebate Plane, this is one of the largest rebate planes made. Based on the Stanley 10¼, which went out of production in the mid-1940s, Lie Nielsen modified the design to fit the Bedrock format. Adjustable side nickers make clean, cross-grain cuts. Both handle and knob can tilt left or right to give better access and control in tight corners.

  • 12 3/4'' long
  • Blade is 2 1/8'' wide x .130'' thick
  • Iron body only, 5lbs

The twin nicker irons and the main cutting iron are full. We don’t think this plane did much work but has been exposed to a moist environment for a short while. Perfectly workable but if you like ''pristine'' please do not buy this plane. We have cleaned it without going beyond making sure the plane will not deteriorate further, which it will not, as long as it is cared for with protective wax or oil when not in use (as is best practice for all steel/iron woodworking tools).

New, this plane costs £519.
