A wonderful set of 7 Limited Edition Clifton Anniversary Planes 2010 – for users & collectors.

This is one of just twelve full sets known to have been sold from this well respected Sheffield plane maker.

(Note - Classic Hand Tools sold the vast majority of the planes when they were launched as a limited edition, so we are very confident of our numbers).

You are buying a small slice of the long history of toolmaking in Sheffield, England.

This is a matched set of 7 Clifton planes all with walnut handles, hand forged irons, 2 piece cap irons.

Each plane is engraved with the number ''7 of 25 Limited Edition Clifton'' on the side of the plane (see photo).

Only 12 complete sets were ever sold as the remaining sets (13) were broken up and planes sold individually.

Classic Hand Tools know the location of 6 of these 12 full sets (including No.s 1 & 2) and last sold a complete set of these Clifton Anniversary planes in 2025 for £3450.

These planes pre-date the current ownership and production (Thomas Flinn, Sheffield). Boxed, unused, scarce!

Clifton planes formed part of Clico Engineering business in Sheffield and these businesses were separated and sold several years ago. Thomas Flinn of Sheffield took over the making of Clifton planes and these planes are still available worldwide, although they have discontinued the hand forged blades and 2 piece cap irons now amongst other changes..

(Note the planes in this limited-edition set are perfect, the green colouring is on the brass and is normal. the brass just needs a very light clean)

Every plane has its own box with a Clifton Anniversary Plane sack and a certificate of authenticity.

To help you with any research re.current pricing you are paying approximately 33% premium for this set compared to current offerings of the No.3, 4, 4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2, 6 & 7 planes being offered by Clifton, Sheffield (excluding plane sacks). We would maintain that the Anniversary planes are superior to the current offerings but that is our opinion.
