Oscar Rush Side Axe - Right Grind

Product Description

A hand forged, 130mm -135mm (5 1/4'') edge side axe. RIGHT grind.

The head weight is approximately 775g 

Handle - 320mm long (just over 12'') hand carved, faceted, kin dried ash handle.

The leather cover is made by Oscar using Italian leather with solid brass rivets (these are much stronger than cap rivets).

The axe is belt sharpened (2000 grit) and then polished on a wheel to a very fine cutting edge (approx. 8000-10000). 

A fine shapening stone is required to keep this edge.

This axe has been carefully designed as an all rounder rather than just for hewing (so the handle is straight rather than being offset).

Please note each axe is forged, ground and handled by hand which makes each of these beautifully functional edge tools unique.  

If striking the poll, do so with a wooden mallet (not a steel hammer - ths is standard form for all axes!).

There will be slight variations between each tool which is part of their beauty but the crucial curves and alignment are consistent for each tool.

These tools are made in small batches by artisan blacksmith Oscar Rush who will be joining Classic Hand Tools at a couple of our shows this summer/autumn.
