Hans Karlsson Short Handled 60mm Adze [Preowned, As New]

These adzes are always in great demand but with a very limited production run. These famous Swedish made adzes are not so easy to get hold of (they seem to be sold out everywhere!).

This example is a commission sale from a customer who has never used the adze, it is in “as new” condition, complete with a protective leather sheath.

This 2 3/8” (about 60mm) wide cutting edge has the distinctive flat section in the middle of the blade to ease bowl carving.

• 60mm wide adze shallow sweep, forged in Swedish carbon steel SS1672, hardened to 56 HRC.
• Length of handle is 220mm.
• Total weight 750 grammes.

Stamped with the makers mark (head and handle).

This is the first time we have handled one of these tools in the flesh and it is a thing of beauty to be sure. Hans Karlsson’s forge was established in 1981 in Motala Sweden and has a world wide reputation for the quality of its tools.
