In near perfect condition. This ECE moving fillester Plane is used to cut rebates both across and with the grain. The hornbeam sole is married to the red beech body and measures 240mm (9 1/2'') x 54mm (2''). The adjustable steel fences set the width of the rebate to a maximum of 33mm (1 5/16''). Maximum depth is 23mm (7/8''). The nicker blade is made from high-speed steel and has 4 sharpened edges. The nicker blade crosscuts the wood fibres ahead of the main iron to prevent tear out.

ECE wood body planes are elegant and simple. ECE use time tested designs coupled with modern manufacturing methods and materials. Before metal adjusters, plane irons were adjusted to very precise tolerances by a simple tap of the iron for a deeper cut. A tap on the heel of the plane reduces the cut. This simple process is still in use around the world and preferred by many craftsmen as an alternative to mechanical adjusters. Simple to maintain.
