Crown Tools Pro PM Bowl Gouge

Product Description

The Pro-PM is an exclusive range for Crown Tools and is the elite if all turning chisels.

Made from advanced Power Metal, the molten steel has been compressed and sintered giving the Pro-PM turning tools a cutting edge which Crown Tools claim will last up to four or five times that of a conventional High Speed Steel tool.

The chisels are hardened to between 66 degree and 69 degree Rockwell, enabling the tools to have a vastly superior wear resistance, excellent grindability, superior toughness, a high working hardness and a higher retention of hardness.

Dave Bates regularly used these tools and although he could not say they stayed sharp for four or five times longer, they hold the edge longer on hard, dry wood but sharpen just as easily as any HSS.

For timbers that have a severe blunting effect on the cutting edge (Elm, Purpleheart and many of the exotics), these tools will be useful.

Available in two sizes, 3/8'' (10mm) and 1/2'' (13mm).
