A small carving axe for all sizes of carving.
This stout hand forged carving axe has a 95mm - 100mm (4'') edge - SYMMETRICAL grind (also known as double grind).
The head weight is approximately 475 - 500g.
If striking the poll, do so with a wooden mallet (not a steel hammer).
The handle is hand carved by Oscar, 275mm - 285mm long (just over 11''), faceted, kiln dried ash...
Oscar Rush Medium Carving Axe
A standard weight carving axe retaining a relatively compact design but with a broader curved edge for slicy cuts.
This carving axe has a 120mm - 125mm (5'') edge - SYMMETRICAL grind only for this axe (also known as double grind).
The head weight is approximately 625g. If striking the poll, do so with a wooden mallet (not a steel hammer)

A hand forged, 130mm -135mm (5 1/4'') edge side axe. RIGHT grind.
The head weight is approximately 775g
Handle - 320mm long (just over 12'') hand carved, faceted, kiln dried ash handle.
The leather cover is made by Oscar using Italian leather with solid brass rivets (these are much stronger than cap rivets).
The axe is belt sharpened (2000 grit) and then polished on a wheel...
