Norris No.13 Smoothing Plane [Vintage]
Product Description
Steel soled Norris smoothing plane with pinned parallel patent metal sides and attractive rosewood infill.
Alex Mathieson & Son iron ( 1 ½” remaining at least) and matching cap iron.
The lever cap is stamped Norris London.
This was once owned by an A Kirkland, whose name is on the rosewood, AK initials on the plane bed and quite discreetly dotted on one of the steel sides.
The owner obviously cherished this plane which was used with care. The rosewood will easily clean up (maintly small paint smatter and acculated grime which will clean without a great deal of effort).
8 ¾” x 2 5/8” steel sole. 2 ¼” wide cutter.
Not offered in the 1928 Norris catalogues so ths dates from between 1908 and 1928. We think it is an early model.
This is a commission sale.
