Usage & Care

This is a specialist saw made for clean, accurate work, not brute force.

Using the saw:

• Use light, steady pull strokes. Let the saw do the work.

• Ideal for cross-cutting clean timber (e.g. beech, cherry, walnut, pine).

• Not recommended for hardwood ripping or composite materials like MDF.

Care tips:

• Wipe clean after use and store in a dry place.

• Avoid side pressure or twisting during cuts.

• Eventually your blade will wear! Replacement blades are available and installation is simple.

About Nakaya

We’ve been stocking these superb Japanese pull saws for nearly two decades, though until recently, they arrived unbranded. We're now proud to acknowledge their true origin: Nakaya Fine Tools.

Nakaya’s roots go back to 1907, when Nitaro Nakaya founded the company in Hokkaido. Now based in Sanjo City, Niigata, Nakaya remains a family-run business, led by third-generation president Shintaro Namba. Their legacy is built on a blend of traditional craftsmanship and technical innovation.

Over the years, Nakaya has developed not just saws, but the precision machinery required to make them, pioneering Japan’s first fully automatic saw-cutting machine in 1967. Today, they produce a wide range of high-performance tools, from classic Dozuki and Kataba saws to automated blade-processing equipment used by other manufacturers.
