Based on the Stanley 10¼, which went out of production in the mid-1940s, we modified the design to fit the Bedrock format. Adjustable side nickers make clean, cross-grain cuts. Both handle and knob can tilt left or right to give better access and control in tight corners.

"I have had this plane for quite sometime now, and I have also the Veritas bench rebate plane. However, the Lie-Nielsen plane is a very fine fine tool. CHT says this on their listing that this is the largest rebate plane made, the Veritas version is 50mm longer and a few mm wider, so judge for yourself. I have used both these tools over a long period of time and I can honestly say the Veritas is the more practical of the two when it comes to functionality. The Veritas tool has a fence, adjustable mouth and a low angle blade and is bit longer. I often work difficult grain wood at times and this is were the Veritas plane scores over Lie -Nielsen design which is a copy of the original Stanley tool.
The Lie - Nielsen Bench rebate plane is no doubt in my mind a high quality manufactured tool, what would have made this tool better than what it is, if they had added a fence as Veritas has to theirs. It is a personal matter what tool you choose or manufacturer. I have given this tool four stars because I feel its practicality could be better. Whatever tool you choose at the end of the day to meet your practical needs you cannot choose a better supplier than CHT for customer service!
