Narex Richter Bevel Edge Chisels
Product Description
Until recently we stocked the Narex 8116 range of bevel edge chisels which were popular amongst students and people starting out in woodworking. Most importantly the steel in the 8116 range was very good but in our opinion the balance and feel would sometimes let them down. I'm glad to say that this new premium range 8150 from Narex is a massive improvement upon the old chisels. Yes they are not priced as attractively as the old range but they are in a different league. The consistency in grind and flatness of these bevel edge chisels is right up there. The Narex Richter Chisels are a very well made and designed all-round bench chisel.
The new 8150 range Czech made NAREX RICHTER cabinetmakers chisels are forged from high quality Cr-V steel and are cryogenically treated and tempered to at least 62 HRc. The sides are ground thin to minimise friction when cutting which is very useful for dovetailing.
Ash hardwood handles have solid stainless steel ferrules and leather washers. Individual chisels are supplied with plastic edge protectors.
Named after their founder Mr Vaclav Richter, these chisels represent the highest quality of their manufacturing processes combining unique materials, heat treatment and machining in order to produce the finest tool for woodworkers. Every chisel is marked by their trademark RICHTER EXTRA.
Please note; the 1/8" (3mm) chisel sits within the ''Narex Richter Bevel Edge Chisel'' range, but to call it ''bevel edge'' is a bit of a stretch. The sides are close to parallel, and more resemble a mortice chisel. This is not all that uncommon in a 1/8" chisel, as often they are taller to give it strength, but this is not all that helpful when removing waste from dovetails.
