Fishtail Gouges

A fishtail carving tool is where the shank of the tool flares out into a wider cutting edge that looks like the tail of a fish. This allows the user to work in tight spaces, to get into corners more easily without the shank messing with the surrounding wood. Fishtails are very useful for carving serifs in lettercarving.
