Product Description
This Flexcut 5 piece Printmaking Set contains 4 carving blades, a quick connect ABS handle, a 11 pocket tool roll and a custom strop and polishing compound.
Lino cutting (or linocut) is a relief printmaking technique where a design is carved into a sheet of linoleum, leaving raised areas that hold ink, while cut-away parts remain white; the inked block is then pressed onto paper or fabric to transfer the image, creating a print. It involves using gouges and knives to carve the design in reverse, then rolling ink onto the raised surface with a brayer, and applying pressure to print. This process is popular for creating unique, handmade prints, with variations like multi-block (separate blocks for each color) or reduction printing (carving away more with each color) for complex designs.
Relief printing is based on a reductive process - carve the non image from a flat, level surface, ink the new surface with a roller (brayer) and then print to paper or some other suitable medium.
