This is a mighty jack plane at 3.1kg and is the largest of the jack planes from Clifton.

The 5 1/2 is regularly considered the go to plane for people starting out as it really is a versatile beastie.. The name ''jack plane'' comes from ''jack of all trades''. 

• Bedrock design frog allows for maximum contact between frog and plane body, and gives you easier, more precise adjustment of the mouth.
• Blade is cryogenically treated O1 steel, heated to 60-62 Rockwell. Cutter Size: 2 3/8'' (60 mm) and 3mm thick.
• Clifton handplanes come with a single piece cap iron.
• Weight: 3.1kg

Why is this in our clearance section? Well, this plane has been on its travels into Europe. It left us about 6 months ago and got "lost" in transit before magically returning to us having been opened by customs officers with big fat paws somewhere along the line. This messed up the tidy packaging and left a few paw marks on the plane which we have cleaned off successfully. Our original customer received a replacement a long while back so this plane is a new second hand model.

It hasn't done any work and is the same 5 1/2 we sell on our main site but with a bit of scruffy packaging. So cosmetics aside you are getting a new plane at a discounted price.
