Prized by craftsmen worldwide, Arkansas Novaculite is the only known substance that can sharpen a blade and polish it as well. All of these Bench Stones are 100% natural Novaculite, cut to size and skillfully finished to ensure precise flatness.
The hardest and finest of the Arkansas sharpening stones. Prized by machinists, tool and die makers for its precision honing and polishing capabilities. Also used for testing gold content.
All bench stones are supplied in handsome protective wooden boxes. A non-slip silicone base is also included in the sizes listed below.

"Surgical black stone is slightly softer than a translucent, so it does still remove the slightest of edges, hence the word surgical, originally used by surgeons to sharpen non-disposable scalpels back in the day. Its put a great edge on my Swiss army knife."
