The Sterling Tool Works Plane Hammer XL is a substantially larger and heavier than their Original Plane Hammer. The Plane Hammer XL weighs in at 1lb vs the original at 7oz.
The Sterling Tool Works Plane Adjustment Hammer is designed to be used to adjust plane blades and wooden Plane wedges for wooden hand planes.
The Hammer is not intended to be used to drive nails or for intense striking of other objects.
The wooden "spud" is made from soft wood and is meant to be consumed and replaced. This reduces the marks and dings that are imparted onto your prized wooden plane wedges.
The handle is turned by hand using multi axis points to make the handle oval at its base and round at the top. This provides a very comfortable handle that immediately registers the hammer head in the striking directions.
The Sterling Plane Hammer is finely manufactured in the USA from Brass Alloy and Ebonized North American White Oak.
