Sjobergs Nordic 1450 Bench & Storage Module 0042

"As a very new woodworker I took a lot of advice before choosing the Nordic 1450 from among the several dozen different makes available. Since my "workshop" was going to be a 1960's single garage size was important, particularly width as I wanted to be able to work from both sides. I looked at 6 different ones and was lucky to get an afternoon's practice on one of the " man sized " Sjorbergs. Price / value was also important. Having the chance to work off a Sjorberg was really helpful in proving the quality. I eventually chose the Nordic 1750,not because it was the cheapest,it wasn't, but because I wanted to learn good joinery and it seemed the best bench in size and quality. Classic Tools were doing an offer price to include the storage module,which due to lack of storage in the "workshop",seemed sensible and I have not regretted it. To my amazement the bench, unassembled in two large cardboard flat packs arrived within a week. Initial inspection confirmed the quality of the wood and metal fixings so I started assembly. This is where I stuck a problem. The assembly instructions are,to put it mildly,basic,in fact sub IKEA,and most of the two afternoons it took me to assemble were spent trying to understand which bits went where and identify the bits. Such a pity that they could not have spent a £ or two more on the instructions. Having got it together I am very happy with the result,it is strong ,sturdy ,well thought out and the option of having the two vices in different positions is very helpful . The 'workshop" has a concrete floor which was flat enough to give a firm level base and the weight so far has proved sufficient to stabilise all the planing. This bench has met all my requirements but slightly more explicit instructions would be helpful. "
