Rob Cosman Rip Hand Saw
Product Description
What Rob says
Designed specifically to cut dry, furniture-grade soft and hardwoods, our hand saws are made from hefty .035 inch (0.89 mm) thick, durable SK85 spring steel with a Rockwell hardness between 55–60. The thick saw plate makes our hand saws quite stiff, providing easy, kink-free sawing, and the steel retains its edge longer than other varieties while still being easy to hand-sharpen.
The teeth are cut using a CNC diamond saw, filed rip with 7 teeth per inch, and have a minimal .003 inch (0.08 mm) set per side. This produces a highly consistent, sharp tooth line that slices cleanly through long-grain wood fibers while the minimal set keeps the saw tracking laser-straight in the cut.
Our closed-handle design harkens back to the Disston D-7 saws of yesteryear, but with our own unique modifications. Handles feature memory-enhancing carved finger recesses for a perfect, repeatable fit.
Four brass split nuts and bolts secure the handle to the blade at a 16-degree hang angle, keeping your wrist aligned with your forearm for better, more comfortable body mechanics while sawing. We craft our handles from Richlite, an incredibly durable, sustainable, and versatile material made from high-grade FSC-certified paper infused with a thermosetting resin.
