Product Description
Ray Iles produces these replacement O1 carbon steel blades for your bench plane (see also blades for block planes, spokeshaves & special purpose planes).
These blades (irons) are 50% thicker than standard irons and manufactured from 01 high carbon, oil hardened tool steel. They are designed to fit Stanley Bailey & Bedrock designs as well as Record & Preston bench planes. The extra thickness helps to eliminate chatter.
No. 3 planes - require a 1 3/4" plane iron
Nos. 4 & 5's require a 2" plane iron
Nos. 4 1 /2, 5 1/2, 6 & 7's require a 2 3/8" wide plane iron.
RI020 - Around 2.35mm thickness
RI021 - Around 2.75mm thickness
RI023 - Around 2.85mm thickness

"Excellent! Finally I have a old Stanley 4 that works extremely well. Easy to sharpen freehand being thicker and holds an edge for much longer than the original. I would recommend these as an ideal replacement. Using the original chip breaker, I did not have to file the mouth either."
