Sharpening tools with curved edges like gouges requires slipstones (and patience). Getting the exact slipstone to match the profile of the cutting edge is difficult. However this slipstone has a wide diameter of 3/4" which is unlike most other slips.
This Norton India Stone is particularly helpful for working incannel tools such as firmer gouges. It is also handy for removing the burr on the inside of hook knives used for spoon carving..
This is an oilstone to be used with oil.

240 grit (medium).
