Lime
This lime is sourced for us from a Sawmill in Yorkshire. It is British lime wood (also known as basswood or linden)
A favourite with woodcarvers because it is one of the easiest woods to carve with consistent grain and very few knots.
Pale yellow - white.
It is kiln dried, with one planed face and sealed edges.
Lime wood is soft and crisp, making it ideal for intricate carving and working...
Beech
Beech is not toxic, meaning it is particularly suited for household and kitchen items.
Carved spoons in beech are common as well as bowls and platters.
Naturally white with a pinky-red heart called ‘Kern’. Often beech may have characterful mineral streaks in the timber.
