Hamlet Thread Chasers 18 tpi HSS (pair of)
Product Description
Thread chasers by Hamlet Craft Tools in Sheffield, England.
These are tools used for chasing (this basically means cutting) a thread on your workpiece on your lathe and are made in matched pairs. One of the pair (the male or external thread) has its cutting 'teeth' at the end of the blade and is used for threading the outside of the workpiece, whilst the "female" has cutting teeth set at right angles to the shaft of the tool for cutting the internal thread.
We are offering a choice (18 or 20 tpi) of paired thread chasers.
It is considered easier to learn to chase threads with a fine pitch (a larger number for the 'tpi' - threads per inch).
Dense, close-grained (fine-grained) timbers are easiest to work with boxwood traditionally sought after.
Sold in matched pairs and made in Sheffield, England.
The tools are supplied fitted with dark stained ash handles.
Thread pitch (tpi - threads per inch): 18tpi
