Gransfors Bruk Swedish Broad Axes
Product Description
The pattern of the Gransfors Broad Axe and the handle is based on old Swedish logging techniques for squaring logs and structural timbers of all kinds. Has sufficient space between the "blade’s beard" and the handle for the user’s fingers. There are different options of bevels (double, left or right). You also have handle options of straight (so the blade is in line with the cutting edge), or angled to the left or right. To produce the angle the eye of the head is twisted to left or right, this will give you more clearance to protect the knuckles.
The five options are......
- 480-1 Straight Handle - Double Grind. Both sides of the cutting edge have a bevel, i.e no flat side.
- 480-2 Straight Handle - Left Grind. With the back of the axe facing you; the grind / bevel is on the left hand side of the cutting edge. The right hand side has no bevel, and is flat.
- 480-3 Straight Handle - Right Grind. With the back of the axe facing you; the grind / bevel is on the right hand side of the cutting edge. The left hand side has no bevel, and is flat.
- 4813 Left Offset Handle - Left Grind. With the back of the axe facing you; the grind / bevel is on the left hand side of the cutting edge. The right hand side has no bevel, and is flat. The handle is twisted to the left.
- 4823 Right Offset Handle - Right Grind. With the back of the axe facing you; the grind / bevel is on the right hand side of the cutting edge. The left hand side has no bevel, and is flat. The handle is twisted to the right.
The broad axe has a 7" face and a 20" hickory handle and the head weighs 3lb.
Book and protective leather sheath included.
