Traditional Turning Saw - Thomas Flinn, Sheffield [Clearance]
Product Description
New stock, never used.
This saw has a 12? (300mm) blade that is used for sawing straight or curved cuts in thin sections of wood. The blade sits in an "H" shaped wooden frame (consisting of 2 cheeks and a stretcher) and is held under tension by the string which, by winding a clacker (a short wooden stick) increases the tension on the blade.
The turned handles with brass ferrules have slotted housings to pin the blade.
The blade is 12" long and is pinned ready to use.
Often referred to as a bow saw a "turning saw" is really a finer version of a bow saw as it typically uses a narrow blade of 1/4 inch (6 mm) or less, with handles that allow the user to hold the saw and turn the blade.
Spare blades are available from Thomas Flinn, Sheffield.
