Strangely It has nothing much to do with woodworking.

David was giving short seminars at The Festival of The Tree at Westonbirt Arboretum about 2005 or so in a section of a huge marquee that Classic Hand Tools had occupied. There were quite a few people of various nationalities demonstrating within the Classic Hand Tools marquee. French, Austrian, Canadian & Swedish, Welsh & Scottish included.

An England v The Rest of The World football (soccer) match was arranged and David volunteered to keep goal for England. A ferocious shot from the Austrian centre forward from 12 yards out was destined to the top left hand corner of David's goal but to everyone's total amazement DC dived to his right, about 4 feet off the ground, to save the "certain" goal with his outstretched hand.

It was magnificent! I kid you not!
