| Norris Style Planes & Blades Ref: RIA5/A6 | |
|
The plane is 71/2" long and the 2 1/8" iron is at 471/2 degree pitch which makes planing difficult timbers a cinch. The body is welded giving a very strong body to the plane, this is the method perfected and used by Norris after World War 2 when he moved away from dovetailing the sole and sides of his planes together, a more expensive and time consuming method. I will shortly post a history of the Norris Plane for your added interest and can also divulge that Ray is currently working on A1 panel plane that is dovetailed steel construction. This will be available from late June. Ray also makes a parallel sided smoothing plane - The A6. He is currently in production for the A'6 and these will be available from late June also. Ray keeps the price affordable so that you can own a quality infil plane without paying through the nose at auction. They say "there is no substitute for the original", well in this case there certainly is. |
