Lie-Nielsen Shooting Board Plane Ref: L-N51 This single purpose plane is designed to trim mitres and other end grain cuts on a shooting board. Stanley first made its version in 1909 along with a metal shooting board. Lie-Nielsen has had requests for this tool over the years, so we are pleased to announce that it is now available. This version utilises a standard 60mm(2.3/8") bench plane blade and frog, and is heavier than the original. It is 380mm(15") long, 90mm(3.9/16") wide, with a shoulder height of 54mm(2.1/8"), and is just over 4kgs(9lbs). It will fit the original Stanley 52 shooting board, if you just happen to have one lying underneath your bench. Lie-Nielsen has plans to offer a companion Shooting Board in the future. Lie-Nielsen Tongue & Groove Plane Ref: L-N48 This tool cuts a groove with one side of the cutter exposed. Swing the fence to expose both sides to cut the tongue. The slot in the one-piece blade registers on the milled body casting, to ensure squareness and equal depth of cut on both sides. Since this is a heavy stock removal tool no depth adjuster is needed. A router plane is a great tool for working shallow mortises - hinge gains, inlay, doorlocks, trimming tenons and the like. Lie - Nielsen's version is based on an early Stanley 071 model, but with an improved depth stop and adjuster. Also, the blade is held solidly in the body in a square broached hole (blades will not fit original Stanleys). A full range of additional blades will be available soon. Ductile Iron body, O-1 steel blade. 8 1/4" long x 3 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" tall, 1.65lbs. 3/8" square blade.

This plane is based on the Stanley 40 1/2 and is designed to remove large quantities of wood quickly e.g taking rough-sawn boards down to size, before finishing with a Jack Plane and a Smoothing Plane.

It is also useful practical for shaping irregular objects or creating an interesting finished surface.

The Lie Nielsen Scrub Plane has a cast Iron body, 10¼" long. The blade is massive to eliminate chatter 1½" x 3/16" thick. A 3" radius on the blade and an open throat allow taking a deep cut with ease.

Lie-Nielsen No.97 1/2" Ref: L-N 97.5

The Chisel Plane is the perfect little tool (6 1/2" x 1 3/4") for removing glue and trimming dowel plugs. It is very useful for working into corners and to the ends of rebates. The heavy 3/16" thick blade is set at 12 degrees. You adjust the depth of the cut by a nicely machined knurled knob. American cherry handle.

At 10" long and 2 1/4" wide this large chisel plane is much bigger than the 97 1/2. It has a bronze body to drive through flush cuts and dry glue line clean ups. A full width low angle blade will cut right into the right angle of corners but as there is nothing in front of the blade to support the cut it is essential to use a very fine set (to avoid ’dig-ins’) so that the blade is effectively flush with the sole. Bronze body & lever cap, cryogenically treated A2 tool steel blade, stainless steel adjuster and cherry wood knob.

Lie Nielsen No.66 Bronze Beading Plane Ref: L-N66 Plane

This Beading Plane is a copy of Stanley's No.66 hand beading plane. This could become one of your favourite tools as you easily create a range of fancy mouldings, beads, reeds & flutes. Lie-Nielsen No.40B Butt Mortise Plane Ref: L-N40B

A simple to use plane that produces precise mortises of uniform depths with sharp, square corners. The body is cast iron with a bronze blade cap, and the handles are polished cherry. The sole has a long slot that gives a clear view of your work and allows for quick removal of shavings. The plane measures 9 3/4" x 1", with a 3/4" wide blade.

Based on Stanley's classic 10 1/4 rebate plane with snicker irons on the sides. The handle and front knob can be tilted over to clear your hands when using it against a high shoulder. Cast iron with a manganese bronze lever cap. This is a firm favourite with my timber framing customers who find it extremely difficult to find old Stanley or Record rebate planes.

Lie-Nielsen No.9 Mitre Plane with Hot Dog Handle Ref: L-N9

The equivalent of a Stanley No. 9, this is a heavy plane and more robust than the original. The originals are extremely scarce and most live with collectors. This plane is 10 3/4" long with a 2 " blade set "bevel up" at 20° with a 25° bevel (i.e an included cutting angle of 45°).

The Bailey-type adjuster controls the blade easily and precisely, even while planing. The mouth is fully adjustable. Sides and bottom are machine ground dead flat and square to .001". Ductile Iron, Manganese Bronze, Brass, Cherry and Tool Steel construction.

This plane is now supplied with a "hot dog" handle. The "hot dog" is a tubular handle designed for comfort in shooting board applications. It is shipped with the tool and can be purchased separately. It is compatible with older generation mitre planes.

Lie-Nielsen Low Angle Jointer Ref: L-N7.5

Because the Low Angle Jack is so popular, Lie Nielsen have brought out a Low Angle Jointer 22" (55.9cm) long, like the No. 7, but with the blade mounted bevel up at 12°. This jointer weighs in at 7.35 lbs., making it a powerful workhorse for heavy stock removal. Blade is 2¼" (5.71cm) x ¼" (6.35mm) thick.

Low angle planes are versatile, uncomplicated tools that will do a great job on end grain and long grain in most situations. A steeper blade bevel (up to 40°) will enhance performance in difficult woods.

Lie-Nielsen Low Angle Smoother Ref: L-N164

The Low Angle Smoothing Plane is based on the rare Stanley 164, and is essentially a shorter version of the Low Angle Jack Plane — with an adjustable mouth, and a massive 2" (5.08cm) wide, 3/16" (4.7mm) thick blade, set at 12°. However, this tool is only 9½" (24.1cm) long and weighs 3¾ lbs.

It is called a Smoothing Plane because of its size (the same as the Lie-Nielsen No. 4 Smoother). But like the Jack, it excels at both rough and finish work, and can be converted from one mode to another very quickly. The unique overhead Bailey-type blade adjuster provides smooth depth adjustment at your fingertips.

Toothed blades for Block Planes and Bench Planes have small chisel-like teeth .030" (.762mm) wide, and spaced .030" apart. They are used for heavy stock removal in difficult grain. Follow with a fine-set Smoothing Plane.
