A must in the toolkit of every Bowl turner. Milled from round bar, giving both mass and stability. These tools are ideal for making bowls. They can produce either massive profiling cuts or delicate finishing cuts as necessary.

Robert Sorby Spindle Gouges

These are detailing tools used on between-centre work, where the grain is running parallel to the bed bars. They are used to create coves, beads, and other profiles on goblets, vases and egg cups.

Robert Sorby Roughing-Out Gouges Ref: RS-843H

For use for initial turning of uneven or square stock to round. The shape of the roughing out gouge enables the tool to cut safely with the wings (the name given to the tips of the side walls) well back from the workpiece.

Bead Forming & Ring Cutting Tools Ref: RS-835H

Bangles and curtain rings are just two of the projects which can be undertaken with the use of Robert Sorby ring cutting tools. They can also be used to adorn stems with captive rings. Unlike some simular tools, the original Robert Sorby ring cutting tools are designed in such a way that sharpening and repeatability are not compromised.

1/16" Slim Parting Tool Ref: RS-835SH

This 1/16" handy parting tool is designed to give the cleanest and finest of cuts with the minimum of waste wood. Its 1.1/4" blade width eliminates the flexing and twisting normally associated with such a thin blade. The double bevel HSS cutting face gives the very finest of cuts. For added security the blade is seated and riveted deep into the handle.

Diamond Section Parting Tool Ref: RS-831H

The special profile of this tool reduces the risk of binding in the cut. It also reduces the amount of heat build up caused by friction, thereby reducing the chance of burning the bottom of the parted project.

Fluted Parting Tool Ref: RS-832H

This tool has a milled flute running along the bottom edge, creating two sharp spurs at the cutting face. These sever the fibres to produce a burnished finish. The tapered profile also reduces the risk of binding in the cut. This features a radically new and unique cutting profile with a blade profile of only 2mm. The long bevel has a milled flute which is the cutting face. The small bevel his the sharpening face. When parting off, this unique arrangement causes the tip to always cut at a shear cutting angle of 45º, producing a finish without equal from a parting tool, virtually eliminating the need for sanding.

Curved Scraper Ref: RS-828H

The curved end profile makes this excellent for creating, smoothing and blending curved surfaces in bowl and spindle work, eg round bottomed boxes. This new tool is able to take an agressive cut, whilst retaining the butterfly sensitivity for the refining cuts.

The special cutting profile of this scraper makes it ideal for cutting the parallel side walls of end grain boxes. The small radius on the point at the bottom of the cutting section creates a smooth intersection between the side wall and the flat bottomed vessels. Heavy Duty Scrapers

Massive in section, these were designed to reduce vibration and be stable in use. Because of their sheer bulk (overall length between 21 1/2" - 546 and 572mm) these scrapers can be used with large overhang form the tool rest. Excellent for large bowl work, platters and deep hollowing.

All blades 1 1/2" (38mm) by 3/8" (10mm) section except 8003 - 3/4" (19mm) by 3/8" (10mm).
